What is compounded Semaglutide?

Studies have shown that Semaglutide reduced appetite, improved food intake regulation, and reduced food cravings in addition to improved glycemic control. The greatest weight loss benefits were observed when Semaglutide is used in combination with B12 or lipotropic injections along with lifestyle changes. At Image Med Spa, we obtain our compounded semaglutide from the same compound pharmacies that we have used for years for other medications used throughout the practice. Compound pharmacies have to maintain certain standards and create compound medications on a daily basis to help with a host of medical concerns. With compounded semaglutide, each patient’s medication is prepared specifically for them, and placed in a multiple-dose vial. Insulin syringes are used to obtain the medication from the bottle and inject the medication.

Are there any side effects?

The common side effects of Semaglutide are:

Nausea

this is the most common side effect. It usually occurs during the first 1-2 days after the injection. It may be associated with some mild vomiting. Lowering the dose or delaying the escalation of the dose often solves this problem. More than 50% of patients have minimal to no nausea. Only about 25% of patients experience significant nausea.

Vomiting

usually, in the beginning, is often associated with skipping meals and then eating a large meal or eating too fast.

Diarrhea

less common, usually intermittent, possible by changes in food or the effect of semaglutide on the lining of the GI tract.

Fatigue

this occurs when skipping meals normally but is significantly increased with these drugs which are designed to lower blood sugar in diabetics. In non-diabetics, there is some lowering also. Semaglutide administration itself in some people produces fatigue and weakness.

Constipation

very common and again intermittent, may or may not be related to medications, where there has been a significant reduction in food and especially in fats and oil.

Heartburn

reflux is very common when taking these medications. It’s due to the delay in stomach emptying.

To help our patients combat the unpleasant symptoms they may encounter while adjusting to the medication, prescription antinausea medications are available for purchase. Our staff will review the available options during your consultation.

How often do I need to take the medication?

Semaglutide will need to be injected once weekly. Compounded semaglutide comes in a vial. Medication will be drawn up via a very small insulin syringe. For in-office visits, the first dose will be administered in the office by the patient with the guidance of a medical professional to ensure proper technique. All subsequent doses will be given in the office or at home by the patient. Patients will be provided with instructions on how to administer their medication.

What is the refund policy?

Image Med Spa offers goods and services that are irrevocable. Therefore, we do not issue refunds for any product or service that has been injected or used in your treatment. In consenting to be treated, it is important that clients understand and accept this condition. Peptide formulations are made for each individual patient. Once an order for peptides has been submitted and sent for compounding no refunds are available.

The Program

We are excited to get you going on your weight loss journey! Image Med Spa offers a comprehensive Weight Loss Program.

Dosing for Semaglutide begins at .25 mg a week and increases over the span of 4-week increments until the goal dosage of 2.4 mg a week is reached. Here is the recommended dosing schedule:

Week 1-4: 0.25 mg weekly

Week 5-8: 0.5 mg once weekly

Week 9-12: 1 mg once weekly

Week 13-16: 1.7 mg once

weekly Week 17+: 12.4 mg

once weekly (maximum dose)

Please keep in mind that this is a recommendation. Most patients find success at a low dose and choose to remain there for more than a 4-week span. Increases in dosing are not mandatory. Most patients see positive results with their weight loss at 0.5mg-1.mg. If this is the case, no further increases in dosing will be required until weight loss slows and/or appetite increases. Our provider will work with you throughout the program to find the right dose for your individual situation.

How Much Weight Can I Lose?

In 2 months, you could lose up to 20 pounds.

In 4 months, you could lose up to 40 pounds or more!

You can repeat this program as many times as you wish!

No 2 patients are the same and results may vary. Patients should know that Semaglutide is a tool for weight loss. Incorporating proper diet, exercise, and water intake, among other healthy habits is highly suggested for a successful weight loss journey.

For those wishing to continue on their semaglutide weight loss journey, refills are available. Our patients are required to schedule their Follow-up/Refill appointments every 30 days to continue treatment. This appointment will include a virtual meeting to check on progress and discuss continued success. We will arrange for your medication and supplies to be shipped directly to your home for your convenience.

Please be advised, for those needing to lose an excess of 30 pounds please consider that a healthy weight loss plan will need to consist of more than the initial 6-week program. Weight loss at too rapid of a speed will not be sustainable and is not healthy. Our medical staff will help you to formulate a plan to achieve your goals and maintain your results.

How long will it take to get my medication?

Medication and supplies will be shipped directly to your home. Payment will be arranged during your assessment. From consultation to receipt of medication, there is a 5-7 business day processing time.

What would disqualify me from taking Semaglutide?

If you have any of the following health scenarios, Semaglutide may not be the program for you

– Diabetic retinopathy

Type 1

– Diabetic

– Low blood sugar

– Eating Disorder

– HIV/AIDS

– Those undergoing chemo/radiation or that have undergone chemo/radiation in the last 12 months

– Acute inflammation of the pancreas

– Decreased kidney function

– Medullary thyroid cancer

– Medullary tumors or nodules

– Multiple endocrine neoplasia

type 2

– Family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma

– Kidney disease – Pancreatitis

– Those who are pregnant or trying to conceive/start/or add to their family in the next 3 months (both men and women)

What about my BMI?

If your BMI is below 25 we do not recommend Semaglutide.
